Simbol is a plant fiber that grows in Catamarca, Argentina, near riverbanks in the Valles Calchaquíes and Quilmes ruins. It is mostly harvested in autumn and winter, when it must be cut at the right moment. This humble material transforms when woven, gaining strength and poetic rhythm as it creates flexible surfaces that evolve into objects. Dionisio Chuschuy, the creator of this technique, likely felt this process. The Valle collection, by designer Cristián Mohaded in collaboration with Voila, explores Simbol’s simplicity and honesty through lamps, tables, and seats. The combination of natural fiber with contrasting materials like metal highlights its unique texture.
