About Cristián Mohaded
Born in Recreo, Catamarca (1980), Cristián was raised among people making things: her mother weaving, her grandmother painting watercolors, old artisans of his town creating with their own hands in the street fair. Crafts were present since childhood, from fixing an old chair to rearranging the house’s furniture, drawing faces or natural landscapes. The curiosity of making and how things are done has been a driving force in his way as a designer.
Studied Industrial Design at Córdoba National University and, inspired by renowned designers and artists such as Ricardo Blanco (AR), the Campana Brothers (BR), & Lucio Fontana (AR), over the past decade he has gained global recognition designing, curating and creating through a spectrum of projects. Pieces that range all the way from small objects to site-specific installations, these could be part of a furniture collection, luminic compositions, sculptures, or even drawings.
In his practice he combines contemporary expressions, material research, techniques and the influence of his natal landscape: mountains, salt flats, sand dunes and volcanos.
