Folding Screen
This screen is named for the village in the 'Punilla' region of Córdoba province where, three decades ago, the mica used for its panels was mined. The large sheets on this ornate piece come from mineral remains left in the mine.
This six-panel screen is made of Brazilian ipé wood. The production process is semi-industrial; the detail work and final waxing are performed in Rosario, Santa Fe province. The mica sheets are delaminated by hand and amalgamated with resin in Villa Allende, Córdoba province.
